Our Lady Of The Sacred Heart School
DLM architects were approached by Catholic Diocese of Auckland to master plan their primary school campus in Epsom. With an extremely tight site the opportunities for the development of new buildings without removing existing was the main constraint. A number of iterations of design were followed by a costing exercise that demonstrated the limitations of the site to sustain a big construction intervention. In the end the building project was envisaged as a staged process to reduce the need sunk cost.
The design involved the removal of 3 classrooms and delivery 5 new ILE spaces complete with an administration and library refurbishment. The design was delivered with the minimum of fuss within the operating school environment to the delight of all the parties.
